This article contains information on how articles are expected to be written on the Regular Show Wiki. Please ensure you follow this manual closely, and feel free to help expand pages which currently do not follow the correct format.

General

  • At least one sentence should be written about the subject of an article along with a relevant infobox template.
  • Within the first sentence of a page, please write the subject of the page (the title) in bold.
    • Bold text should not be used anywhere else within a page.
  • The definite article (the) and indefinite articles (a/an) should be avoided in article titles except when they are part of an official title.
  • Quotation marks should be used when referring to titles of real-world media. (eg. "Struck by Lightning")

Spelling, punctuation & grammar

  • There should be no spelling, punctuation or grammar errors within articles. Please ensure that all words are spelled using U.S. English, given that "Regular Show" originates from the United States.
  • Punctuation should be formal and not over-excessive. Only use expressive punctuation marks if quoting a real-life person or a character (only for dialogue in transcripts) or if it used within the title of a story.
  • In terms of character names, we use the credits of episodes to determine the official method of spelling character names. For example, "High Five Ghost" or other alterations should always be spelled as "Hi Five Ghost".

Naming articles

For the sake of convenience, this section has been split into multiple sub-sections.

TV story articles

All articles relating to episodes of the series must be given the same name as shown on the episode's title card. We understand that different titles may appear elsewhere (eg. TV listings, streaming services), however we would encourage you to only give an episode's alternate title(s) as a piece of trivia to be mentioned in the episode's respective trivia section. (For example, an episode which may appear in places as "The Dome Experiment" should be titled "The Dome Experiment Special", as that is the given title on the episode's title card)

Exceptions

There are three exceptions for this rule:

  1. If an episode has not yet been released, then the officially listed title should be used until a title card is revealed to say otherwise.
  2. If for any reason, a released story has not been given an official title, (such as the stories in "Christmas in Space") then a relevant placeholder title should be used, so long as it feels true to the story it entails. In cases where a story's title has been revealed by the creators but not within the episode itself, then that title should be used.
  3. If an episode's title card contains a sub-title (for example, the "Terror Tales of the Park" franchise, which displays its title cards as "Regular Show Presents: Terror Tales of the Park: Halloween Special), then the sub-titles are not to be included.

Comic titles

All articles relating to comics must be given the same name as shown on the contents page of each comic book. We understand that different titles may appear within the comics themselves, however we would encourage you to only give a comic's alternate title(s) as a piece of trivia to be mentioned in the comic's respective trivia section. (For example, "The Book of Death Kwon Do" instead of "Searchers of the Lost Post-it")

Exceptions

If for any reason, a story has not been given an official title, (Issues #1-#16 do not display titles for their main stories) then a relevant placeholder title should be used, so long as it feels true to the story it entails. In cases where a story's title has been revealed by the creators but not within the comic itself, then that title should be used.

Other titles

For games, books and attractions, please name the page by its appropriate given title. No exceptions will be made for this rule.

In-universe subject articles

This sub-section focuses on articles surrounding in-universe subjects. This includes, but is not limited to: characters, locations and objects.

When creating pages for characters, please use their most widely-recognized name (for example, "Pops" instead of "Pops Maellard" or "Mega Kranus") as this helps the wiki to become more accessible to newcomers. The most precise method to decide on what to name is character is through the name they are given in the credits of any given episode. If a character belongs to another form of media or is not credited, then please proceed to use the name they are given within the piece of media itself. If a character is not named either in the credits (or is given too vague of a name, such as "Mystery Guy" for the "No Rules Man") or media, then you may give them an appropriate name that describes the character precisely.

In the event that a subject's name is the same as that of a real-world piece of media (for example, "Don" could refer to either the episode or the character), then please specify the category of the subject in the page's title. (eg. "Don (character)". Real-world titles should not change on this basis, and ultimately take priority over any in-universe subjects.

Categories

Do not add the following categories to a page, as an accompanying template will automatically add them:

  • Category:Characters
  • Category:Episodes
  • Category:Shorts
  • Category:Movies
  • Category:Games
  • Category:Comics
  • Category:Books
  • Category:Attractions
  • Category:Voice Actors
  • Category:Galleries
  • Category:Transcripts

Additionally, only admin-approved categories may be added to pages. A list of admin-approved categories can be found here.

Images & Videos

Please read our image & video policies.

Templates

Most pages will require a template. In the case of infoboxes, do not attempt to add any additional sections, as they will not appear on the final page. Additionally, please do not add unnecessary information to templates if the information is not known. For example, adding "Unknown" to the "Relatives" section for a minor character whose family is not seen or mentioned. Just simply leave the section blank, and it will not show up on the final page.

Please only add one image into templates. We understand that other wikis will make use of multi-image tabs within templates, however we have discovered that this does not translate well on mobile versions of the site.

Please limit tables to list pages only.

What should I put into an article?

The following is a guide to creating each different type of page on the wiki.

Characters

We do not allow character pages for every character who appears within the show. In order for a character to qualify for a page, they must have direct relevance to the plot for a single story. Pages for background characters are not permitted.

  • First, please add the "Character" infobox template, and fill in any relative information. Please ensure that any images added to templates follow our policies.
  • The first sentence of the page should be incredibly brief, and describe the character's role in the franchise. Following this should be a brief description of who the character is and their journey throughout the series. Below is an example of how this should be written.
    • Mordecai is one of the main characters in Regular Show. Working at the park alongside his best friend, Rigby, Mordecai was often considered the more sensible of the two, with a clear ambition to be seen as responsible to further his chances of having a good career, either as an artist or a pilot.
  • Following the opening paragraph, the rest of the page's contents should be presented under the following sections.
    • Biography: This should be an in-depth breakdown of the character's story. If a character's backstory is revealed, then it should be the first thing included, under an appropriate subheading. Anything that references the character's later life or death should be the last thing included. Anything that happens during the period of the series should be kept in the middle. If this information is not known about a character, then simply write about the character's story in chronological order of appearance. Please ensure that all points are referenced with a link to the relevant story's article.
    • Appearance: This should be a detailed description of a character's design, detailing all of a character's unique features. If there are alterations to their main design, then you may add them in a separate paragraph under the same heading.
    • Personality: This should be treated as an analysis of the character's behavior and traits. Please remember to stay unbiased when writing articles, and simply describe what is portrayed within the media you are referencing.
    • Skills / Hobbies: This should be a list of both skills and activities in which the character is seen to either enjoy or excel in. Please format this as the following:
      • Skill / Hobby name - Description of how the skill / hobby is depicted.
    • Trivia: This section should be used for facts which have not been referenced anywhere else on the page. This can range from things discussed briefly by the characters within the show, to behind-the-scenes facts from the creators.
    • Gallery: Characters with ten or more appearances will have their own respective gallery page. Please use this section to link to said page. If a character has less than ten appearances, then this section will be used to present their gallery appropriately.

Locations

Location pages are allowed for the primary settings of any story. Minor locations which barely appear within a story should not be used.

  • First, please add the "Location" infobox template, and fill in any relative information. Please ensure that any images added to templates follow our policies.
  • The first sentence of the page should be incredibly brief, and describe the location and its function within the universe. Below is an example of how this should be written.
    • The Coffee Shop is an establishment based within the City, with its function being to sell hot drinks and food. It served as a regular meeting location for Mordecai and Rigby, and was the original workplace of Margaret and Eileen.
  • Following the opening paragraph, the rest of the page's contents should be presented under the following sections.
    • History: This should be an in-depth breakdown of the location's history, both within and before the main period of the series. Please ensure that all points are referenced with a link to the relevant story's article.
    • Appearance: This should be a detailed description of a location's design, detailing all its unique features.
    • Trivia: This section should be used for facts which have not been referenced anywhere else on the page. This can range from things discussed within the show, to behind-the-scenes facts from the creators.
    • Gallery: Unlike pages for characters, this should be limited to images that show the location from different angles. Not every image that features a specific location needs to be included in this section.
    • For parent locations: A parent location is a location which features multiple smaller locations within it (eg. the Park). In this case, additional sections giving brief descriptions on its sub-locations are allowed, but should be limited to save the content for the extra pages.

Stories (TV, Comic, Storybook)

  • Depending on the type of story, please add either the "Episode", "Comic" or "Book" infobox template, and fill in any relative information. Please ensure that any images added to templates follow our policies.
  • The first sentence of the page should be incredibly brief. Below is an example of how this should be written for each type of story.
    • For TV stories: The Power is the first episode of Season One of Regular Show. It first aired on September 6, 2010, and was written & storyboarded by JG Quintel.
    • For comic stories: Sombrero World is the third short story in the mainline Regular Show comics series. It was published as a short story in Issue #3, and was written by Zack Smith, and illustrated by Brad McGinty.
    • For book stories: It's a Regular Life is a storybook written by Max Brallier, published on October 13, 2015.
  • Following the opening paragraph, the rest of the page's contents should be presented under the following sections.
    • Synopsis: A brief description of the general plot of an episode, taken from an official plot summary (such as from Max, or the blurb of a book). Alterations are allowed in the circumstance that the original summary contains an error. (For example, many streaming services will describe "The Power" as having Mordecai and Rigby accidentally send Benson to the moon, rather than Skips. In this case, you may make the correct adjustment). In the case that a story does not have an official synopsis, you may write your own, but please keep it brief and limit it to one sentence.
    • Plot: A more detailed yet still brief summary of how the story progresses from start to finish. Keep it concise, and assign one paragraph to each of the three acts within the story.
    • Characters: A simple list of the characters who appear within a story, from most relevant to least. Do not add these into "Main" and "Minor" character sections, and do not add tags to them (such as antagonist, death, revival, etc.)
      • As a side note, a character being mentioned within a story does not equal an appearance, so do not add them to this section if they do not make a physical appearance.
    • Locations: A simple list of locations within the story, from most relevant to least.
    • Videos: Only add this section if relative videos exist. We would like to remind you that we only allow videos from official Cartoon Network YouTube channels, or those who have received permission to upload videos from the network themselves.
    • Trivia: This section should always be organized into the following subsections:
      • Production Notes: Behind the scenes information about the story.
      • Worldbuilding: In-universe information revealed in said story. This can be about anything, from characters, locations, entertainment, etc.
      • Continuity: If the story in question references a previous one, or is referenced by a later one, it should be placed under this section.
      • Pop Culture References: References to pop culture.
      • Adaptions: If a story has been adapted into another form of media, place that information here.
      • Goofs: Any animation or continuity errors found within an episode are to be placed here. (For comics and books, please use the Errors subheading instead)
      • Deleted Scenes: Any information on initially planned scenes which did not make it into the final story should be placed here. Please back this up with a source.
      • Alternate Versions: Information on censorship within stories should be placed here, and given an addition subheading for the countries which are affected.
      • Official Releases: Information on where an episode was released either digitally or physically should be placed here.

Transcripts

Transcripts are simply transcribed versions of an episode, and must be formatted formally.

  • First, please add the "TranscriptBox" infobox template.
  • For spoken lines, please write the character's name in bold, followed by their dialogue in regular text. For example:
    • Benson: What the heck was that?
  • For actions, please create a new line and type the description of any actions or scene-setting within brackets, and in italics. For example:
    • (Muscle Man and Hi Five Ghost both laugh)
  • Do not combine action lines with dialogue lines, as this makes the page look messy. The only exception for this is if a character makes a noise which cannot be transcribed into dialogue, such as a laugh or a sigh. For example:
    • Mordecai & Rigby: (laughs) Mega-Kranus.
  • Italics are allowed within dialogue if heavy emphasis is put on a word or phrase. For example:
    • Rigby: Oh! Malum-Kranus!
  • Do not add over-excessive punctuation to transcripts, such as using multiple exclamation marks. On a similar note, do not write in all-caps, even if a character is yelling. If it doesn't feel appropriate to have a character yelling written in normal text, then just using italics for the lines where they yell.
  • Ensure that you link to any relevant characters or locations, but only when they are first shown within the story. This does not include if a character is mentioned, only when they physically appear. Additionally, do not link to other stories within a transcript if they are referenced.Gall

Galleries

Galleries consist of only two sections:

  • Title Card and Credits - This consists of the episode's title card and the cast list.
  • Episode - Images from the episode. In the case of longer episodes, the gallery will be split into the appropriate number of sections, relevant to the episode.

Home Media

Regular Show's home media releases are listed on their own separate pages. Articles relating to box sets are not permitted.

  • First, please add the "DVD" infobox template, and fill in any relative information. Please ensure that any images added to templates follow our policies.
  • The first sentence of the page should be incredibly brief. Below is an example of how this should be written.
    • Regular Show: Slack Pack is the first Regular Show DVD to be released. It includes 12 episodes from the show, with 6 episodes from both Season One and Season Two respectively. It was released on April 3, 2012.
  • Following the opening paragraph, the rest of the page's contents should be presented under the following sections.
    • Contents: A full list of the episodes featured within a home media release, as well as any relevant special features.
    • Trivia: This section should be used for facts which have not been referenced anywhere else on the page.
    • Gallery: A small gallery is permitted to feature the back cover and disc art.
