"Pops' Favorite Planet" is the thirty-first episode of Season 7 of Regular Show (and two hundred and twelfth overall) It first aired on June 2, 2016.

Synopsis[]

Pops wants to see his favorite planet when the guys sleep outside.

Plot[]

The episode starts with a flashback to when Pops was a young child. He was using his father's family telescope that has been passed down through family generations, Pops then discovers a planet he constantly refers to as "she" and "her". Mr. Maellard then tells Pops to leave the room denying him the privilege to look at his planet. There are then a couple of more flashbacks revealing the interference of Mr. Maellard and the odd kinetic energy beaming from Pops at each interference.

The episode then commences to the present and reveals Pops' eyes fully dilated and gazing up at the sky. Muscle Man sends a fax to Benson as he begins the daily meeting with Skips, Hi Five Ghost, Mordecai, Rigby and Pops saying that he is at a "meeting" already. After he exits the house he falls through the wooden floorboards and Benson then reveals that the house has recently been infested with a poisonous strain of termites. Benson then tells everyone that there will be exterminators coming in and ensures that Pops is looked after at a reservation at sleep lodge and the others simply have to get out of the house until the extermination is complete.

However, Pops rejects the lodge after he has a date with "an old friend" and Mordecai and Rigby plan to go camping out with Pops to view the planet, Benson gladly takes Pops' place at the lodge. That night, after Mordecai and Rigby complete a silly song and dance about the universe and the stars, Pops begins preparing the old telescope, when he discovers that the crucial eye piece is missing from the device. Mordecai attempts to contact Benson to see if they can enter the house but he doesn't pick up because he is enjoying his stay at the sleep lodge, eating waffles with syrup and butter.

Mordecai automatically assumes its okay to go down to the house and enter it in order to help Pops find the eye piece. However once they arrive at the house, a lot of exterminators (presumably the dome scientists) are working on the house which doesn't look like termite extermination, but something incredibly sketchy and out of place. There are several signs on the fence blocking them that seem much too severe for what the situation is and other strange work is happening with the house, but that is brushed aside.

Alternatively Mordecai, Rigby and Pops turn to Skips (as expected) and see if he owns an eye piece that will fit Pops' telescope, but there was no match. Pops pleads for another way to view the planet and Skips has the idea of the abandoned observatory that is deep in the park. Pops hurries them along because there isn't much time left to view the planet. Skips reveals the telescope may still work and he then shows them the way.

Mordecai and Rigby are behind Pops and Skips who are leading the way to the observatory. Mordecai then speaks of Pops' constant positivity until they finally reach the observatory. They soon reach the massive telescope in the observatory along with Mordecai and Rigby discovering a plasma globe. After a few moments Mordecai and Rigby are throwing a baseball due to boredom as Pops sets the telescope up, he finally finishes the setup and alerts everyone. Rigby then throws down the baseball which rebounds off the wall of the observatory smashing the plasma globe which soon loses control. It then shoots out purple beams and pushes Mordecai, Rigby, Skips and Pops into the walls.

After being trapped on the wall, Skips tells the others they have to break the globe or call for help. Pops says it'll take too long, and after Skips says they can't view the planet, Pops becomes very frustrated. His frustration releases his telekinetic powers and causes his eyes to turn white, he breaks the globe with his powers using various items through his powers. Mordecai, Rigby and Skips are shocked. After the globe breaks, Pops finally gets to see his beloved planet and tells the others to come and have a look for themselves, however they are in disbelief and Mordecai questions what just occurred with Skips having no clue either.
