Regular Show: Mordecai and Rigby in 8-Bit Land is an official Regular Show video game, developed by Wayforward Technologies for Nintendo 3DS. The game was released on October 29, 2013 in North America, and in Europe on November 8, 2013.

Synopsis[]

Making its first foray into the video game world, Regular Show: Mordecai and Rigby In 8-bit Land brings best buds Mordecai and Rigby and their adventures from the Emmy Award-winning animated comedy to the Nintendo 3DS. When Mordecai and Rigby get transported into some mysterious video games, they'll have to use their best skills and unique abilities to traverse the various challenges to escape and get back home in this brand-new 'eggscellent' journey. This hi-jinx filled adventure is packed with action platforming, side-scroller space shooting, old-school top down video game mania, and comes fully loaded with fan-favorite characters and humor from the show.

Gameplay[]

The game is a side-scrolling platformer, where the player plays as Mordecai or Rigby. You can collect a Death Kwon Do uniform that will allow you to be stronger. Without it, taking one hit of damage will cause you to respawn to the beginning of the level or the last checkpoint, and you can only attack enemies by jumping on them. Press X to switch back and forth between characters. Press B to jump. Mordecai can double-jump. Press Y to fire projectiles, though this can only be done when you have your Death Kwon Do uniform. In world 2, you can become a spaceship if you are in the space zone by pressing L or R. In world 3, you can walk on walls (Rigby only) by pressing L or R. There are three VHS tapes hidden in every level except the boss levels, making for a total of 48 tapes. Collect them to unlock bonuses, such as cheats and concept art.

Plot[]

Mordecai and Rigby become trapped inside a video game and need to escape. After crossing a pixelated version of the park and avoiding a series of obstacles, they exit the park before being attacked by The Destroyer of Worlds, who the duo had believed to be dead. Mordecai and Rigby now are trapped in a space zone where aliens and robots live. Crossing the land via a combat rocket, they discover that the giant geese are also alive.

Mordecai and Rigby, confused, explore the lands. Upon arriving at Death's mansion, they realize that every nemesis that they killed before had been recreated in 8-bit form, and they must kill every villain again. But now the mansion is an endless maze. Here they must fight The Hammer, who is also alive.

Ending the quest, Mordecai and Rigby discover that all the nemeses from before are alive because an 8-bit version of Exit 9B has been created by Garrett Bobby Ferguson and his son. After the adventure ends, the house explodes, returning the duo to the real world. Benson comes back and tells Mordecai and Rigby they have to finish their job, or else be fired. The duo decide play the game again instead, and they enter the destroyed house.
