"Happy Birthday Song Contest" is the seventeenth episode of the sixth season (and the one-hundred and seventieth episode overall) of Regular Show. It aired on February 19, 2015.

Synopsis

Mordecai and Rigby are determined to win a happy birthday song contest.

Plot

We start off where Mordecai, Rigby, Eileen and CJ are watching a baking show about cake, this bothers Mordecai and Rigby by making them crave cake, CJ confusingly asks why they just don't buy some cake, Eileen bumps in telling CJ that a Cake cartel moved into town and increased the price of cake, even for a small portion, luckily a commercial plays ,its Farmer Jimmy again with another song contest, he states that he is tired of the classic happy birthday song, and is willing to give a years supply of cake to anyone who can compose a new song for birthdays, everyone is up for the idea of entering the contest.

We are now at the park, were Mordecai and Rigby ask Benson for 3 days off in order to write and present the song in the contest, at first Benson is reluctant but after finding out they are trying to replace the happy birthday song he swiftly says yes, for he too hates that song. After some time off screen writing the song, Mordecai and Rigby ask Muscle Man for his opinion in the song, however we the vewier can not hear it, as Muscle Man, makes continuous squeaking sounds with his boots, however muscle man is visably in awe and when they finish tells them that it is great!

Now the gang hits the road, however the farm is a day drive away, so they decide to take a pit stop at a local diner, here we see the effects of the new cake cartel as a single slice of chocolate cake is 50$ dollars, but back on track, the gang is deciding what to order when a mother and son in another booth are celebrating the sons birthday, however the song gets agitated at the birthday song, Mordecai and Rigby stare at each other and nod, they push the singers away and start singing their song, however once again we can not hear it as a vacuum overlaps the song, but we can hear the previous singers asking about the song, and Mordecai responds that they are entering a contest, the cashier overhears this and leaves to make a call, the call warns a hidden figure in a chair about the contest, in which the unknown man reply's with a thanks.

Now the gang final makes it to the contest, Farmer Jimmy states the rules, the more candles blown out the less points you receive, so after a montage of multiple contests it is finally Mordecai and Rigbys turn, however just as they are about to start smoke clouds the stage, and a tall slender figure appears, except his head is a cake! Farmer Jimmy refers to him as Happy Birthday, Jimmy starts to try and get Happy Birthday off the stake, but suddenly Birthday shoots out cream disabling Jimmy. Birthday starts to have a monologue about how his song is supreme, and he will prove it by singing it to the crowd, it starts off normally the crowd is visibly displeased, but then Birthday throws confetti upon the crowd which seems to brainwash them, causing them to sing along. Just as things seem to look bleak, Mordecai and Rigby start to sing their song, and the crowd regains their sences and start to cheer and sing along to Mordecai and Rigby's new tune! Birthday gives up, but warns that he will be back, they will forget their song eventually and will adore Birthday once more! After things settle down Farmer Jimmy congratulates them as the winners, however they must sign a contract and then they will receive their cake, they sign but sadly they only get a lump sum of cake not a whole years supply, but Mordecai and Rigby are still excited for their new free cake! (and its chocolate!)
