Edie McClurg is an American actress and writer for Regular Show, well known for her role as the secretary in the film Ferris Bueller's Day Off.[1] On Regular Show, she provided the voice of Muscle Man's mother in the episode "Terror Tales of the Park IV."

Early life[]

McClurg was born in Kansas City, Missouri, the daughter of Mac, a mailman, and Irene McClurg, a secretary.[2][3] She began performing at five years old, as a member of the Kansas City Rhythm Kids.[1] She attended high school at Bishop Lillis High School and attended college at the University of Missouri and Syracuse University, attending one of those colleges with a bowling scholarship.[3][4] Following college, she taught radio at her former alma mater, the University of Missouri, while also working as a newswoman and a documentary producer for a radio station before becoming an actress.[4][5]

She then became a member of the Groundlings in 1975, staying with the group until 1985.[3] She made her film debut in 1976 as Helen in Carrie.[1] She later played the secretary in the 1986 film Ferris Bueller's Day Off, which would become her most well known role.[1] She also appeared in the film Natural Born Killers.[1]

She has appeared on the following television series: Columbo, Caroline in the City, Malcolm in the Middle and 7th Heaven.[1]

In addition to her acting, McClurg has also wrote for The David Letterman Show and The Pee-wee Herman Show.[1] She also performed her own one-woman play, It's Edie in Here, in 2003.[5]

McClurg has also provided her voice for numerous characters in animated series and films, some of which being: Carlotta the Maid in The Little Mermaid, Winnie Pig in Tiny Toon Adventures, Ora Anderson in Life with Louie, Barsa in the English dub of Kiki's Delivery Service, the tooth fairy in American Dragon: Jake Long, Minny in Cars, Mrs. Goldfishberg in Fish Hooks, Mary in Wreck it Ralph and Gerda in Frozen.[6] She also voiced Miss River in the video game Escape from Monkey Island.[6] Her voice acting agency is SBV (Sutton, Barth & Vennari).[7]

McClurg has a brother, Robert, who is also an actor.[2] Her political affiliation is Democratic.[3] She resides in Los Angeles, California.[8]
