"Dumped at the Altar" is the season finale and the twenty-eighth episode in Season 6 (and one-hundred and eighty first episode overall) of Regular Show. It first aired on June 25, 2015. It aired during the first ever "Regular Show Bomb".

Synopsis

The gang helps Muscle Man get married, but problems arise that involve Mordecai and CJ.

Plot

At the start of the episode, Mordecai and Rigby are drinking sodas at sundown. Rigby asks how things are with CJ now that Margaret admitted her feelings for Mordecai, but he explains he hasn't had a chance to talk with her about it. Just then, CJ calls. Rigby tells him to not be afraid of his feelings, resulting in Mordecai hitting him. After getting through a seemingly awkward conversation with her, Mordecai denies anything wrong and states they're fine and they're happy.

As the Park workers prepare for the wedding, Muscle Man starts becoming anxious, destroying an ice sculpture during his freak out (Skips had prepared a backup though). Benson soothes the emotional Muscle Man before he can harm the next sculpture.

Mordecai and Rigby are shown setting up the chairs in the Park ballroom, where Mordecai gets a call from Margaret. She tries to apologize for the double date but a nervous Mordecai assures her saying it is ok. As he hangs up, he notices Rigby has stacked the chairs into a pyramid.

Before the reception, Mordecai and Rigby stand at the entrance to greet the guests. Margaret shows up before CJ, where Mordecai greets her and tries to compliment her look, but instead compliments her shoes, disappointing Rigby. She then asks to be ushered, but Mordecai instead sends her to find a spot upon seeing CJ arrive. Ironically, when he greets CJ, he does compliment her look and ushers her to her seat in confidence. She states that she has been doing some thinking, but before she can elaborate is interrupted by Benson, sending an urgent call to Mordecai through his walkie-talkie.

Mordecai and Rigby rush to the scene to find a frantic Muscle Man wrecking the room. He laments not being able to get married without a letter from Muscle Dad to wish him well. To not delay the wedding, Rigby and Mordecai are sent out to find the letter in Muscle Man's trailer, with High-fives telling them they can't leave the trailer without it. As they look around Muscle Man's mess, Rigby talks to Mordecai about his relationship issues. Mordecai keeps insisting it is ok and Rigby, to justify himself, reluctantly reveals he and Eileen have been dating for some time now, and didn't tell to not shove it down his throat. Rigby explains that Mordecai deserves to be happy too, and Mordecai assures him that he is fine. He gives Mordecai one last piece of advice: to follow his gut for once. Mordecai says relationships are always complicated, but Rigby insists on how easy his relationship is with Eileen, proof that they don't have to be complicated.

Mordecai gets an urgent call from Hi Five Ghost, showing Muscle Man and his soon-to-be bride at the altar. At the last second, they find the letter and head out. Muscle Man breaks down in cold sweat, crying he can't go through with the marriage if he is not met with the guidance of his father. Just then, Mordecai and Rigby arrive with the letter. Muscle Man opens it to read it aloud, but hands it to Mordecai, begging him to read it exclaiming, "I feel too much!"Mordecai reads the letter, which is about Muscle Dad telling Muscle Man that he's found his true soul mate, and he is moved by Muscle Dad's main point: trust your gut and nothing can go wrong.

So before letting Muscle Man continue, he gives a speech saying be has been wrong for a while, about solemates not existing, but after past events and seeing Muscle Man and Starla, who are practically made for each other, he now doesn't know if there is someone as perfect for him. He even wonders if his soulmate is in the room right now. He even points to a few people in the room, saying that maybe they're his soulmate. Mordecai says his point is that he doesn't know if there is one perfect person out there for him, and that he didn't go with his gut, because he didn't want to hurt anyone, but instead of saving their feelings, it's just made everyone around him miserable. As he says this, CJ starts glaring. Mordecai ends his speech by saying that, for one, he's goin to take Rigby's advic, and he tries to tell CJ something. But CJ stands up and interrupts him, angrily and with tears welling up in her eye, saying that she already knows what he is gonna say. Mordecai tries to say somethin, but CJ sadly says "You don't know who your soulmate is?". She gives back the bracelet from Real Date, and she glares at him and says" You didn't even point in my direction", and runs away crying, convinced that Mordecai didn't care about her anymore. Muscle Man is miffed by Mordecai's intrusion on his special day, and asks if he could finish, to which Mordecai repiles yes, and he runs after CJ. Muscle Man turns to Starla and says "I do", then ceremoniously steps on a glass. It is unknown what Mordecai was actually going to say to CJ.

At the reception, the aforementioned fryers start cooking. The wedding party has started. The guests dance, and Muscle Man spins his shirt over his head, throwing it. Benson catches it and yelps ecstatically. A Turducken (turkey/duck/chicken hybrid) is flung out by grease from a Fry Guy 2000. Unfortunately, it crushes Benson's car; to which Benson rushes outside, horrified. Behind him, Rigby steps out with two sodas and sees Mordecai conversing with CJ. They hug each other, and she rides away on her bike, as Mordecai kicks a stone dejectedly. He approaches Rigby and says that he and CJ are "taking a break" and Rigby asks him that when he told him to follow his gut, if it really said for him to dump his girlfriend at the altar. He replies that he is not good at those things and to quit rubbing in the fact that he has a girlfriend and he does not. Then they both take the sodas and head back to the reception as Benson mourns his (once again) wrecked car.
