"Bet to be Blonde" is the second episode of Regular Show's third season (and forty-second episode overall). It first aired on September 26, 2011.

Synopsis[]

After being forced into going blonde by Rigby's dishonest victory on a video game, Mordecai joins an all-blonde cult.

Plot[]

Mordecai and Rigby are playing the video game Xtreme Xcape on the couch. As Mordecai taunts Rigby for his inability to beat him, Rigby decides to propose a wager, that being whoever loses the next game has to get his respective video game character's haircut for a week. The two seal the bet, but Rigby immediately collapses, saying he will die without a glass of water. Mordecai thinks Rigby is faking but fetches the water anyway. While he is gone, Rigby unplugs Mordecai's controller. When the game resumes, Mordecai realizes that his controller is unplugged, but loses the game (and the bet) before he could plug the controller back in. As a result, Mordecai is forced to go blonde. The next day, Mordecai meets some blondes at the Coffee Shop who notice that Mordecai is being ridiculed by "normal-hairs" like Rigby. Rigby starts to ridicule Mordecai with blonde jokes, but all the while feels ashamed about cheating on the bet.

Mordecai starts hanging out with the blonde men while Rigby tries to get Mordecai's attention in order to tell him that he cheated on the bet. Rigby first turns to Skips for help who tells Rigby the only way to get his friend back is to admit his dishonesty. Rigby refuses to take Skip's advice and decides to spend a whole day chasing after Mordecai. He eventually manages to get his attention by telling him about how he cheated but he backs out at the last second by pretending to sneeze. After doing so, Mordecai confirms that he's about to become a blonde member but in order to do so, he needs to "blonde an outsider" to death.

Rigby is taken hostage and when he wakes up, he finds himself tied to a rope over a boiling vat in the blondes' secret lair. Mordecai is given a sacred ring by the Blonde Men and is told to lower Rigby into the vat in order to seal Mordecai's initiation to join the blondes' club. He obeys the Blonde Men's instructions but stops at the last minute after Rigby admits that he cheated on the "haircut" bet. Mordecai then reveals that his blonde hair was actually a wig, and that he was doing it to get Rigby to admit his dishonesty. However, the Blonde Men have other ideas - they were not in on Mordecai's plan to make Rigby tell the truth. The duo manage to escape near death after the escape and blow up the mansion, killing all the blonde men in the process. Whilst Mordecai and Rigby receive medical attention, Rigby learns that it's not cool to cheat on bets and intends to never cheat again. The episode ends with Mordecai jokingly asking if Rigby wanted to bet on it with blonde dye to which Rigby replies "No".
