Betty Jean "BJ" Hunt (née Ward; born September 16, 1944) is an American actress, opera singer, author and a voice actress, who voiced Dr. Asinovskovich in "Grilled Cheese Deluxe", as well as providing the voices of Velma in Scooby Doo, Wonder Woman, Aunt Margaret in Curious George and Scarlet in G.I.Joe.[1][2][3] When portraying Velma, she often wore a turtleneck sweater and glasses at voice recordings to get into the character.[2]

Early life and career[]

Betty Jean Ward was born on March 14, 1941 in New York City.[2] She is also a former Playboy bunny.[4] Her voice acting agency is SBV (Sutton, Barth & Vennari).[4] She has also acted on the live action shows ER, Frasier and Gilmore Girls.[1] She is also an opera singer, having released four classical music CDs and also performs her one-woman show, Stand-Up Opera.[1] She has also appeared as a soloist for symphony orchestras, playing at the Hollywood Bowl.[1]

Personal life[]

She married Gordon Hunt in 1995.[5] Hunt is the father of actress Helen Hunt, making Ward Helen's step-mother.[6] Currently, her main focus is being an author, debuting with Farty Marty.[6] She resides in Los Angeles, California.[7]
