Heed the call Aussies. Starting tonight, and just in time for the July School Holidays, all new episodes of Regular Show will air GO! (one of Channel 9’s subsidiaries) at 6pm.
It’s been a long time coming. Three years in fact, since the last new episode aired. Channel 9 initially bought the show in 2012, and proved popular enough to eventually air the first four seasons in their entirety. Since then, Regular Show has been in a constant loop from ‘The Power’ to ‘Steak Me Amadeus’, always rebooting back to the start. Tonight signifies a major change to this.
The best part is that Channel 9 source their copies direct from CN America. As a result, they are free from all of the edits by CN UK or AU. Aside from removing a title card or credits, the stories and dialogue are uncut. Amazingly, GO! still air the first prints from Season 1 to this day (aside from Prank Callers, but I'm yet to see any hard evidence it was edited in the first place).
It's funny how GO! have been promoting these new episodes since January. They first posted a frame from the yet-to-air Maxin And Relaxin on their social media feed with no mention of it being new, followed by promoting the same 4 seasons as all new, and then occasional animations of the characters popping up during other shows saying 'Coming Soon'.
At this point, it's unknown how many episodes were ordered. Season 5 will undoubtedly be complete, and the above example suggests Season 6 is part of the deal. As for Season 7, it seems likely to be included as well, now that it's finished its US run. As for the 2 minute Shorts, who knows?
Amazingly, it would appear the broadcast order is the same as in the US, which is definitely a first.
