9/10 In honor of the 15th anniversary of Regular Show, I decided to re-review the series, which is fitting considering how much I reviewed the series this year.
Plot: Mordecai and Rigby are groundskeepers at a park where strange things happen daily while also trying not to get fired by their boss, Benson.
Positives:
1. The animation is amazing, the character designs are appealing, and the backgrounds are nice.
2. Mordecai and Rigby are great characters; their dynamic is iconic, and they play off each other well.
3. The humor is amazing; the adult jokes are my favorite aspect of the humor because of how well they worked. They’d have an amazing punchline and a phenomenal payoff.
4. The plots are where the series shines the most. Most episodes start with a mundane issue that has a unique twist, which results in Mordecai and Rigby saving the park, and surprisingly, it doesn’t get old, for the most part.
5. The side characters are amazing; dare I say, better than Mordecai and Rigby. Benson, Skips, Muscle Man, Eileen, and Pops are arguably the best characters in the show because of how funny and entertaining they are.
6. There are so many memorable quotes, such as “MY MOM,” “Jolly Good Show,” “STOP TALKING,” “OOHHH,” and “Clean this up or YOU’RE FIRED.” I can go on and on about my favorite Regular Show quotes.
7. The voice acting is great; all of the actors do an amazing job portraying their characters.
8. The finale is phenomenal. I won’t go into too much detail because I plan on reviewing it one of these days, but it’s so emotional and concludes the series perfectly.
Negatives:
1. Obviously, as the series continued, the writing got weaker. I’d say out of all the seasons, the sixth and eighth are my least favorite. The former for its focus on the love triangle and boring plots, and the latter for the focus on space, which was boring to me. Seasons 1-5 and 7 are amazing, though.
2. Margaret is the worst character in the series, and you cannot convince me otherwise.
Overall, I love Regular Show. I never got to see it that much when I was a kid, but I still liked it, and as the years progressed, my love for this show increased. It’s genuinely one of the funniest and most creative shows I’ve seen. If you haven’t seen Regular Show, then what the hell are you doing with your life?
